Heron National Championships 2012 - Lake Macquarie NSW
The following Nationals (January 2012) are going to be held at Lake Macquarie Yacht Club which is at Belmont (not the 16' skiff club) on Lake Macquarie NSW, just south of Newcastle, about 1.5 hours north of Sydney. The dates are (subject to final confirmation) Friday 14th - Saturday 21st January 2012. Go here for the accommodation guide. Even though there is a lot of choice of accommodation, be aware that this area is a very popular holiday destination and the best spots will book out early.
If you are into camping, you can't go past Belmont Pines. It literally looks over the course area and one can easily park their Heron on the lake's edge rather than at the Club. The sites are nice and grassy with lots of shady trees. I can recommend it, having stayed there recently (Editor).
