The NSW Heron Sailing Association is delighted to announce that Craig McPhee has accepted an invitation to sail at the 59th Heron National Championship regatta, which is to be held at Port Stephens from 13-20 January 2018.
Craig is a legend of the Heron class. He won his first Nationals at Lindisfarne in 1978 and chalked up another nine wins, all in 8998 Eigen Vector. He has also won 13 SA Championships. Craig last sailed a Heron competitively at the 2002 SA State Championships, and then moved onto other classes. His successes continued, with several Tasar National titles and podium finishes in Tasar World Championships to his credit. Craig still owns Eigen Vector, but will be sailing a Dinghy Sports boat, on loan from the National Heron Association, at the regatta.
Craig will join an illustrious list of former champion Heron skippers, crews and boats that will be present at Port Stephens. A Cavalcade of Champions will be held at the Presentation Night to honour past winners – a Heron event that is not to be missed.
